I recently bought a Ruger American Rifle Ranch in 300 BLK. The gun and 5-round rotary mag worked fine, so I bought a second mag from the Ruger Store online. The new mag did not feed; the rounds flip up and the end of the bullet jams on the top of the receiver or chamber. I called Ruger and they immediately sent me a new mag. Same exact issues. This time I left an email message on their website, outlining the problem. I got a very succinct response: "Any suggestions?"

I'm not happy with their response; I think they should be the ones scratching their heads and trying to come up with solutions, not me.

Having, vented, what do you guys suggest? I've got a nice little rifle, with one good mag and two duds. Thanks.

Without the rifle in their hands it is tough to troubleshoot. I bet the response is a legitimate request for an idea based on your hands on experience and ability to look at the rifle in person. Side point though, I have been curious as to how well those mags work and if they required tuning to the specific rifle..

On occasion the rotary mags are faulty. They can be taken apart and fixed. But they should replace it.

On some 223 mags, (I think 300BLK would use the same mags), the feed lips are too tight. Owners have been filing a bit of material from the inside of the feed lips to widen it a little with good success.

This was a fairly common problem with early 223's and I thought it had been corrected.

If they don't fix the situation, you might have to.

Slowly cycle the rifle and note the issues in feeding. You will then have to modify the feed lips until the rounds feed smoothly.

You have a VERY awesome rifle, I'd love one for hogs and deer. Is it lightweight and handy?

At this point all they can do is send you another mag or have you send in the rifle. Depends on how much you want to continue working with it.

Ruger is peddling hard to redeem themselves. I emailed the CEO at about 5:00 pm ET yesterday, and received a phone call from a Ruger employee about 9:30 this morning. They are sending two "range tested" mags. About 9:35 I got an email from FedEx confirming shipment.
