I just attempted to register on the Ruger forum and was informed that my email address was banned. I'm sure that I never registered before but just in case I was having another gray hair moment I tried to log in with the user name I use for everything (like this site) but the password was wrong. So I clicked 'forgot password' to see if I could get it emailed to me. This time I was told that the email address didn't match the user name. We only have one email account. Since I can't contact them I thought someone here could help.

It could be that the username is already being used by someone else. That's the only thing I can think of. I'm not sure why your email address would be banned.

Maybe because you have a "free" email account? Yahoo, gmail, aim, aol, hotmail, ect. By "free" I mean one not provided by your internet service provider.

Lot's of gun sites have decided they don't want my business because of my email address.
 Oh well.

It was .com My email is a yahoo account but I can't imagine that's the problem since so many folks use yahoo. I'm betting that there's lots of folks on that forum using yahoo. My email is [email protected] so if anyone registered at rugerforum.com can ask them I'd appreciate it.

I'm on Rugerforum.net. Pretty decent group of folks. Member "Iowegan" seems to be an expert on Rugers. I did see some posts on a dispute between the .net and .com folks.

SS, kinda like here between the .us and .org, huh. Mach 1, you're evil, but probably right. :) I just want on the forum!! Suppose they're upset because my Smiths outnumber my Rugers outnumbered 3 to 1??

Yahoo Email

Same here, I tried to get on the S&W forum to no avail. They don't like my free email. Also I was turned away at the MWFP forum. Seems like discrimination to me.

I have had lots of prior experience with websites banning yahoo accounts because of problems... not savvy enough to understand why.

I switched to gmail awhile back and haven't had a problem with that yet.

Don't/Won't use my work account for leisure browsing. If that keeps me off some sites, oh well.

Not allowing the free email makes a lot less work for moderators as it severely restricts the troll population. Most people only pay one ISP so they only have one email address and when that gets banned they are done. No re-registering under a new name. If I ran the zoo (aka a forum) I wouldn't allow free email address either.

Nobody is getting turned away because of free email accounts. It's their choice not to use the email address provided by their ISP.
