After years of delays, our shop just got it's first two Ruger Gold Label SxS scatterguns. They are the English stocked, with thin splinter forends. Good fit and finish of the wood to metal parts, bank vault lockup. The light barrels and thin wristed stock make for a very neutral balance, and the shotgun swings and changes direction quickly. While I've had some time hunting with a Fox, I'm much more familiar with conventional pumps, semis and O/Us, so I'll leave a more in depth review of the handling characteristics to those more trigger time behind the side by sides. Hopefully all the disappointed customers that have been calling the shop for the past 3 years looking for these Gold Labels will arrive soon, wallets in hand.

Too late----my safe has a few new O/U's in it now---had the Ruger been available--I might have bought one----now I have no need or desire for one.

Handled one last week. Price was less than 1600.00. I am sure some will love it. Personally, since no one is asking, I would have rather seen a beavertail forearm and a 20 gauge version. Oh well, my quest for a Browning BSS 20ga continues...

That's good news. Now, when Ruger really wants to sell some, bring on the 20 and 28 gauge. ;)

Supposedly there are 20 ga and 28ga (on an actual 28 ga frame) versions in the works. Should be easy to scale the action down, with making the wax molds being the major outlay. I'm hoping for the affordable .470NE Double Rifle built on the 20ga frame.
