I was looking at these on ruger's website and I like the look of them alot seems like it would be a nice carry gun being it has the 3" barrel and shorter grip,I also like the extra round it gives you over the sp101 to. Does anyone here have one of these revolvers,if so how do you like it? Does any of the custom makers like milt sparks make any IWB holsters for these guns? Last thing is as always pics are always great to :) thanks.

I love mine, it is probably the best shooting revolver I have ever shot. It fits my smaller hands perfectly and makes a dandy carry gun although it is a good bit bigger then our SP101.

I personally think it is the best of the GP100 line.

First gun on the right.

I've got one and its is fantastic. I can't say anything bad about it. I CCW it sometimes in a Bianchi speed scabbard.

Get one, trust me. If you like the full sized fighting revolver as much as I do, you won't be sorry.

FWIW I debated at length between the GP100 and SP101, and went with the GP100. I still want an SP101, but I haven't bought one yet. I feel if I'd gotten the SP101, I'd still have wanted the GP100 and would have bought one by now.

Well I'm going to be a desenting vote. I had one and got rid of it; traded it for a LNIB S&W model 19 with a 6" barrel, even steven - no boot. I bought it while looking for a 3" SP101. It was no more accurate than my 2 1/4" SP and felt like the anchor for the Titanic, big and bulky. The sight radius is only 15/16" longer than the 2 1/4 SP. I can, and do carry a GLOCK 21 much much easier. Don't get me wrong it is a good looking revolver but did not work for me. If I were to ever buy another Ruger GP it would be a 4" with target sights. Now, ask me about my little SP101; I love it!!! The Glock or Miss Piggy as I call the short tubed beast are my carry pieces. If you like the 3" GP then by all means buy it. Just my 2 cents. Regards Pistol Toter

Got one on my short list of "Will haves" I've got a 4" that I put the smaller grip on and really like a lot, but I do still want a three inch to go with it.

I've got a 3" SP-101 in .32Mag so I get the sixth shot out of an SP, what's not to love. :)

redocollection1-6-06.jpg This is a great home defense gun. It's a perfect shooter. I love mine, right now my fiancee uses it to shoot up .38's at the range.

My old roomate had a 3" gp100 and I owned a 3" sp101. I really like both guns. The gp100 is heavier but it also feels more solid than my sp101. The gp100 is also a lot thicker than the sp101.
Basically buy either 357 and you will be happy. I bought the one I wanted he bought the one he wanted. They both are nice guns.

ps If you want the 3" I would go with the gp100. If you want a sp101 get a 2". You are from a free state with conceal carry. The 2" would be a lot easier to carry.

I have a 3" Blue one and I really like it. It is probably heavy for a carry gun unless you are a LEO. Shoots just fine. Initially I was hesitant to buy it with non-adjustable sights..... then I thought about my actual shooting and decided that I rarely adjust the sights anyway, so what's the difference. I bought it for home protection and ocasional range and plinking sessions. It fits the bill quite nicely. If I lost it, would I replace it... yep! To me that says it all.

What's the accuracy difference from the 4inch to 3inch barrel? Looking to buy a gp100 soon, just wondering if i'll be giving up accuracy to get a smaller gun.

The only thing you give up accuracy wise is sight radius. The gun shouldn't be inherently less accurate and actually a smaller stiffer barrel may even be slightly more accurate mechanically speaking.

My 3inch is one of the most accurate handguns I have ever had the pleasure of shooting.

I'm impressed with the shooting display. Wish I could shoot that good! You can't go wrong with a 3" GP100.

Have enjoyed mine from the very first squeeze and 4000 or so rounds later it is as rock solid as ever. DoubleTap or Buffalo Bore loads for fun, "regular" Gold Dots or Golden Sabers for carry. I've also had luck with PMC's Starfire as they've expanded the most of all the rounds I've tried when fired into water baggies ala a modified Fackler Box, but am hesitant to employ them for self defense after hearing of certain expansion issues through heavier clothing.

Whatever bullet you settle on, it's difficult to think of a more accurate and/or sturdier revolver for the money.
