I've had a 6 inch Ruger GP100 for a while now but admit it doesn't make it to the range as much as it should. When I do shoot it I run probably 95% 38 special as opposed to the full magnum rounds. (I don't reload and 357 is expensive) I picked up some aluminum cased Blazer 357 on sale and since I've had good luck with their 9mm I though I'd give it a try. I noticed a number of times getting little stings to the face shooting it today. I also noticed that I had to eject the cases using a cleaning rod because they were sticking to the chamber walls. (Note: this gun is cleaned very well after each outing so it didn't start dirty.) After the 357 ran out, I shot some remington 38s and had no problem. Don't recall ever getting hit using other 357 brands in the past. Is this likely an ammo issue? Anybody have any experience with the Blazer aluminum 357 magnum rounds?

Blazer aluminium cases readily expand and tend to get sticky. The more oversize the chamber/the hotter the round the worse it gets.

Had some problems with the same ammo in a S&W 66, not mine, but was watching someone else shoot it. It seems that he thought it had an abnormally large flash coming from the barrel/cylinder gap than with any other .357 Mag ammo that he had. He didn't like that flash and said that he wouldn't buy that stuff again.

I don't know about getting hit in the face with particles of carbon with that ammo, but I have been hit in the face with a .22 revolver, and the gun times perfectly, as far as I could tell, with almost no slop in the cylinder.

I have use the Blazer and like it. You will get some sticking sometime with the casings. If you don't like it, Blazer makes the same round in Brass.

Howard

I'll never use Blazer again. Had a case split in my Blackhawk which burned a line in that chamber.

Blazer is ok in light loads

Like 9mm or 38 spec. I'd be very cautious in 357. I have seen the problems you describe at my range.

Blazer 10mm

I've used Blazer in my 10mm Glock 20SF with absolutely no problem-it's a 200 grain loading and not super hot for 10mm,but still a pretty potent round.
I actually haven't had any issues with Blazer in wheelguns or semiautos over many years.

I have fired a couple hundred rounds of Blazer 357JHP in a 686, an SP101, and a Model 19 snub.
Never an issue, and it is accurate. I like that it is lower power than full magnum loads...it actually makes a decent carry round. Much more power than most 38spl, yet easy to shoot.

Love blazer in .44 special.

I used to shoot a lot of 158 blazer through my 6" GP back in the day, never had an issue. On the other hand, I got shrapnel'd to the point of bleeding all over the range using WWB 110 in my Smith 65-3. Won't use that combo again. The 65 times perfectly, by either March article method, or Miculek's video instruction, and it works fine with loads like rem and fed 125 or win silvertip 145, to say nothing of boatloads of "FBI" LSWCHP, so who knows what the deal there is. Maybe one of our resident old timers has an explanation.
