Hello-
Just picked up my brand new GP100 6" SS. the revolver is in brand new shape looks great, timing looks fine, in full lockup doesn't appear to have excessive cylinder movement sided to side, and end-shake looks OK. Every GP i checked out before i bought this one has some sided to side cylinder play and some amount of end-shake although minimal. I don't have gauges to check this but checking each cylinder, revolver in full lockup, side to side movement is almost non-existent, BUT checking each cylinder 3 of them have almost no end-shake, and the other 3 have the very slightest amount of end-shake!

I know that a very small amount of play is desired for these revolvers, but is it ok for some cylinder's end-shake to vary slightly from others?

Thanks for you time.
Jim

I can't imagine what effect the cylinder locking bolt on a Ruger could have on end shake.
Should have absolutely positively no effect on anything but a Colt DA.

But regardless of that?
Shoot it 100 rounds and things will have changed anyway when the new wears off.

BTW: A little end shake is a necessary thing if you don't want it to bind up when the cylinder gets hot & dirty.

.001-.003" endshake is acceptable , I have seen some GPs that was a tad over .005" (easy movement of feeler gage) & still shot & ran flawlessly & no spittin or failure to fire.

The side to side play is a catch 22 deal . Build it bank vault tite & when it shoots loose it`s out of time , too loose & ya have trouble with bullets beating up the forcin cone . Just a bit of wiggle measured with the fingers is not a bad thing .
