I just picked up a new gp100 4" stainless. The finish is flawless trigger is good out of box. But I have noticed when I dry fire double action the hammer pivot pin backs out some. I called Ruger customer service and the girl I talked to said this was normal. I noticed when I took the grips off there is a notch at the top that the pin rests in. It seems to me if the notch was not present the pin would not move as much. Is this normal for the gp or am I nit picking the gun to much any info would be great because this is really bugging me. Thanks

There will be movement on the pin and it's not an issue as the pin is captured by the grips. It can't come out so I wouldn't worry unless the movement is something excessive.

Great gun, you'll have a lot of fun with it.

GP100 hammer pin retain

I too recently bought a GP100 (blue 4") and the pin problem also bugged me. I super glued a ruber strip contoured to the recess in the grip that was about 1/8 " inch thick. Took about 5 minutes to make and install and it fixed the pin backing out. Stays in place now. By the way, I really like this gun. Hope this helps, Jim
