Ruger LC9-First Impressions

Probably right Blu. Certainly wasn't a lube I've ever seen. Loaded up a couple hundred more rounds. The range is calling me.

Had mine out at the range for the first time yesterday. Once I got dialed in on the trigger and comfortable with the recoil, I was getting pretty accurate at 25 feet.

I also own the SR9c, but added the LC9 to have more carry options. The LC9 is really easy to carry - you actually can forget you have it on. Unlike the other subcompact single-stack 9s I've tried (Kel-Tec, Kahr), the Ruger is comfortable to shoot - no issues with trigger-guard bite.

As to what that poster up above says about quality, ah... no. The fit and finish on mine are excellent. There is no play in the slide and frame, the trigger is smooth and breaks nicely at the end, all controls are crisp, magazines "snick" home, and release perfectly. It's certainly an outstanding value if you can get one for under $400.

This is a weapon I added to my arsenal in order to fill a specific gap. I wouldn't select it as my only firearm.

Interesting.......mine DOES have play between the slide & frame rails. If I lightly shake the pistol in my hand, I can actually feel the slide slopping side to side a little.

Perhaps I should investigate a little further.

I was also shooting real low with mine. It's a byproduct of that long trigger. With some practice(600 rounds) I can now shoot it well.

It took a while to get used to. The first 100rds had me worrying I had done wrong. However once I settled down and got used to it the gun did its part.

I personally thought the ruger quality was head and shoulders above the taurus and Keltec offerings. No, it isn't a Kahr or Kimber, but get real those are a whole other price range.

I love my Ruger LC9.

It is very dependable - over 300 + rounds through it w/o one siggle problem at all.

Great sights for a mouse gun.

Fit's in my front jeans pocket (it fills it up full)

I'm liking it.

Mine has had no malfunctions of any kind while shooting. It's a little snappy, as I expected it would be, but it's manageable. The safety has loosened quite a bit since I bought it a few weeks ago. Occasionally, I check it in the holster and the safety has disengaged. Not sure how much that bothers me. It has a hard trigger pull, but then there is a safety that SHOULD be on when I think it's on.

I just took my LC9 to the range the first time today. I put 50 rounds of magtech, 50 rounds of Winchester white box, 50 rounds of Remington, 100 rounds of MFS and 20 rounds of Golddot 115gr JHP. All other rounds were 115gr FMJs. In 270 rounds I had not a single issue. Though after about 150 rounds my rear sight was very loose. Loose enough that I could slide it completely off. I retightened it and will keep an eye on it in the future.

Overall I liked shooting it a lot. I did not enjoy shooting it out to 40 feet for my first go with it. I am planning on taking it to a local indoor range where I can start out at 7 yards and figure out where my bullets are going.
