Ruger lcp .22 ammo picky?

I dunno, I like the idea of fast expansion, dumps all of the little energy available to the .22LR. Maybe I’ll alternate Velecitors and Stingers :D. Its not exactly my primary carry gun. Just a little mouse gun to shove in your PJs on the way to the 7/11 to buy your wife a snack.
You may want to also test Federal Punch with your LCP II 22LR. I have. It cycles my LCP well. Also I chronographed it and the velocity was on par with Federal’s advertised velocities for this ammo out of a very short 22 barrel.

I ran around 350 Velocitors through mine, by the way. Velocitors averaged one nosedive out of 50 to 75 rounds in my LCP, but that was before I upgraded the recoil spring with a slightly stronger one from MCARBO. I upgraded the recoil spring specifically because of the occasional nosedives with various ammo types, including CCI Minimags. It solved the problem, but I never tried Velocitor again because at that point I found Federal Punch and was very pleased with its performance in this gun. I don’t remember if I actually tried the Punch ammo before I upgraded the recoil spring, though.

I've only ever used Federal Automatch, Aguila Interceptors and Mini Mags in my LCP .22. 150 rounds of Automatch were a complete bust, but I don't hold that against the gun because my P938-22 and SR22 also choked on that crap. In 150 rounds of Interceptors, I had 3 FTEs and 2 premature lock backs. In 450 rounds of Mini Mag 36gr HPs, I had 1 failure to feed and 2 premature lock backs. The remaining 1110 rounds (yes, I keep records) were all Mini Mag 40gr CPRN, which produced 25 failures of various types; failure to fire (at least a few were light strikes), failure to feed, FTE (1), and failure to completely cycle.

This gun is fun to shoot, but I've given up on the thought of it ever being completely reliable. The Mini Mags are the best with 97-98% reliability. I've got an order of Federal Punch coming in, because I believe in being prepared for the possibility of having to carry any gun I (or my wife) own, and it will be interesting to see how it does with that.
