Ruger LCP Fix

The Ruger LCP still interest me but only if the fix is really a fix.

If any of you have a "fixed" Ruger LCP that you have shot a bunch since the fix, I would like to know your experience with it.

A buddy of mine has one. Couldn't tell any difference after it came back but of course he hadn't dropped it either.

I was going to go to the range today

and run a couple hundred rounds through mine. Unfortunately the Ice storm had taken down a lot of small trees and limbs on the road into the range. Since I ws not driving my truck, I decided to turn around. Once I get a chance to break this thing in I will be sure to let everyone know what I think.

Just sent mine off this AM, although it ran fine with all different sorts of HPs.

Just got mine back today after TWO MONTHS. I sent it back because it was jamming and then they had their recall too. I haven't tried it yet, but my original impression was that it was even much less reliable than the Kel-Tecs, and I'd never trust them in any emergency. Furthermore, Ruger said they've enclosed a free mag for my trouble but they didn't. So, so far I've been underwhelmed with the whole experience. We'll see what they've fixed when I get to the range.

Tried it out: repeated failures to feed and one failure to fire. Called Ruger and spoke to the tech. He said to start filing or send it back again. Kel-Tec redux. Phooey.

f1, the first hundred rounds or so, it is not uncomon for some auto's to have a similar problem. these are mass produced off the line guns. and as such, may have a burr or two that has to wear in. also, if you did not clean the gun before shooting, all of the shipping oil is collecting burnt powder and making a nice thick sludge that will impair your pistol from working. when i bought mine, i took it apart to clean it, and HONED off all the sharp edges i could without a lot of trouble. i still had some ftf issues. but after "break in" it has been fine. if it continues to have problems after 200 rounds, then i would talk to ruger about repairs!

The LCP is a POS in my book, glad to say I had one but also glad I sold it. Saving up for the Springfield EMP 40 caliber

Mine has been flawless, and I just sent it back to Ruger for the recall.

I don't really see why some people love the Keltec but trash the Ruger. They are the same design, and if one has a problem, so does the other. The main difference is that Keltec can't afford a recall.

So far I hate both the little Kel-Tecs AND the Ruger Kel-Tec clone. I thought Ruger was going to take the KT and add a bit of weight but refine it so that it is actually reliable, like maybe even right out of the box - like other products are supposed to be - especially products that can mean life or death - they don't tell you to polish up a new car's brakes and run it in for 5,000 miles before it's reliable!

Yes, I know many people swear by the Kel Tecs, and now the LCP too, but me, I've never found a tiny automatic that I can trust.

Chuck - That .40 is a whole different class of gun, much bigger.

Moose - I'll mess with it a little more and file it some more and lube it and try it out again, but I'm afraid I'm hearing the same song i heard when I had my misadventures with the Kel-Tec .32 and .380.
