What can I say, this pistol is absolutely incredible.

Took off into the desert early this morning with the wife, Ruger, and a bunch of very different ammunition.

To cut a long story short, the Ruger digested magazine after magazine of flat nose FMJ, Corbon DPX, and the dreaded ultra hot spanish surplus Santa Barbara open tip flat nose FMJ.

Shooting off hand at paper plates at a good 30 yards, I managed a 6 inch group, which is fantastic (for me), only to then have my wife roll up and shoot a 5 inch group with the recoil intensive Santa Barbara, which she proclamed to have "much milder" recoil than regular Walmart FMJ in the P-3AT. The sights were dead on to point of aim at both 10 yards and 30 yards. The wife decided to illustrate some of the plates with smiley faces, and my very first shot at 30 yards dead centered the "nose".

This gun has much lower recoil than the Kel-Tec, was 100% reliable with some of the trickiest .380 ammo out there, and super accurate above all else.

I cannot recommend it highly enough, the bar has just been raised out of sight.

Buy it, buy it, buy it.

Thanks for the range report. I've been trying to find myself one, but to no avail. Guess I'll have to wait a little bit yet to get my hands on one.

Good report.

It just weighs about an ounce more than the P-3AT. It doesn't seem like that would make the recoil "much milder" or "much lower" but apparently did for you. I'd be curious to hear someone's observations when both are shot both side-by-side.

What did you pay, the local "discount" mega gun store who is usually great on prices had only one at today's gunshow and they wanted $450

Too rich for my blood.

The sights were smaller than the kel tec but it felt better made.

You're wife's name is Ruger? That's dedication.:)

Seriously though, thanks for the report. Now, we'll see how long it takes my dealer to get mine in. He called when I asked, distributor didn't have any.

I paid $329 for mine and was robbed. Most of the stores here in Phoenix seem to have them in stock, maybe that's because they are made just up the road in Prescott.

As for the recoil, the extra ounce may not be much, but combined with the ergonomic grip, it makes the world of difference.

PS - just traded off my jammamatic P-3AT, I couldn't stand it in the house a moment longer.

I just read another range report on GlockTalk, the fella owns a P-3AT also. He said that the recoil was exactly the same. Oh well, it's one of those subjective things.

I saw a flyer at my local gunshop today and the distributor price was $220. plus s/h. I would think $300. would be a fair price.

As for the recoil it's probably due to the gun being a little heavier and a heavier recoil spring. Go ruger and thank you kel tec for your amazing p32's.

Nod

Ever since my Bersa Thunda went south, I've been stuck with a surplus of .380 ammo, good excuse for getting another .380.

This time I decided to spend the money and get some quality. Satyed away from the P-3AT (even though my P-32 is rock solid reliable) just 'cause of the problems I have heard with it.

Narrowed it down to a CZ-83 / Beretta Cheetah (I have the .22 LR version which I like) or a SIG 232. Then Ruger brought out THEIR pocket .380.

I was kinda skeptical, given the fact that (at a distance) it looked like a Kel-Tec ripoff. The above range report is making me take a harder look.

Still, I have a Mak and a Taurus M85 for pocket carry , along with the P-32.
Given that stacked up against the .38 spl or the 9x18, the .380 round comes in behind both of those (moreso behind the .38 spl), so justifying the purchase for CCW becomes harder.
