I took my new LCP to the range and I'm satisfied with the purchase and will carry this from time to time (I don'tcarry often). I didn't try different ammo, and I didn't shoot for accuracy. My range does not allow holster draws so I just started in a 2 hand ready position, lifted the gun and fired at a rapid pace at a Q target at 7 yards. I figured there was no point to test for accuracy, so I only tested for shootability.

I had no problems keeping all rounds in the kill zone of the Q. After a few magazines the grouping (actully more like a pattern) tightened. So I put the target out to 16 yards. Again I had no problem keep all shots in the kill zone of the Q shooting at a rapid pace.

The trigger was surprizingly usable, but the sights are very difficult to pick up. I was mostly point shooting for that reason. I might try painting the front sight to see if it helps. The recoil is a little snappy, but I also had no problem returning the gun to point of aim.

Function was perfect and I like that the magazine drops forcefully from the gun. I'd consider this a usable gun, quite good for its intended purpose, but this is not a top of the line hand crafted piece. I do like this gun though.

intended purpose

I agree this is a point shooting gun, and for its intended purpose (which is not target shooting for long accuracy) this gun is excellent. Its been in my front pocker in a Galco pocket holster everyday since I purchased it. The goal was to get a gun I would now hesitate to take no matter what I was wearing or where I was going, this gun fits the bill perfectly. I love the light weight, and it has been dead reliable with zero jams in several hundred rounds of hollow point only shooting.

I highly recommend this gun for a "carry it anywhere" gun. All of my fellow officers at my PD are drooling over it and all are putting thier name on waiting lists for one. That is my only gripe is their in short supply, but that good for Ruger.

I also am hoping that the next Kel-Tec design Ruger copies and "Ruger-izes" is their compact 9mm

No spare mag and from what I've seen a ruger factory spare mag is upwards of 25.00. But I think that's due to the excitement of the gun. In a few months I'll bet the price of the gun, and the mags, come down.

I paid 32.50 for a spare mag on Gunbroker.

I know that was too much, but I do not like to carry a weapon without a reload.

I had good results with mine too and there's a range report posted somewhere here with my name on it from a couple weeks ago.

I could have sold mine several times already for a profit, but I like it too much.

Ruger's mags have always been on the pricey side, but they are top-notch. And while $27 may sound high, I've got a Bersa compact 45ACP, and IF you can find mags for it, they're upwards of $40 a pop. Mine came with two, but I'd like a few more. As easy as it is (usually) to carry spare mags, it would be silly not to have one, in case there was a problem with the one in the gun.

Supply?

So whats the waiting timme for this pistol? My understanding is that it is not in wide circulation yet.

To be honest, I seriously doubt I'll pick one up. My normal carry is a G19 with 1 standard cap backup mag. Even when I pocket carry I fell better with a .38 snub with Buffalo Bore's "standard pressure" load.

But you never know what might happen when my tax rebate check comes in.

Don't complain about being gouged for spare magazines until you got a couple of H&K pistols.

Just an update - This gun throws the empties out in front of me, so on the indoor range, I can't pick up th brass.

It's kind of annoying, but I still like the gun. I'll take it outdoors this weekend and see how far the brass actually flies.

Shot mine for the first time last weekend (should say the wifes, since I barely get to touch it now!). Absolutely love it. Very snappy, and the trigger took some getting used to, but it was completely reliable with random ammo through 150 rounds. Much more shooting is due, but so far I can see it was a great purchase. Plus, I just really like the looks of it.

Also, mine throws the brass nearly straight up and a little forward.

Worse than getting gouged for mags for an $800 HK is getting gouged on mags for a $300 Bersa 9mm. Just one of the reasons I sold that gun.

The only thing I was disappointed with on my new LCP is the smaller sights. They are even smaller than the ones on my P32. I'll be ordering an armalaser as soon as they come out for the LCP.

There is a waiting list here where I live so it seems like it might just be a popular little pistol after all.

I called my local shop today and the recording said they had plenty of LCP's just in for $199. I swing by after work and they are not only closed, but moving, and I don't know where yet!

I think our gun shop is pulling your leg. I sure hope youcan get one for $199 but my bet is, that is pure B. s.

let us know. I never heard of ANY dealer having PLENTY of lcp's in stock.

My dealer has a 19 LCP waiting list and his cost is 220, and sells them for under 250. I've seen these on Gunbroker for over 350 with bids on them.

Just a suggestion..

Crimson Trace has announced they will be producing a laser product for the LCP later this year.. You might want to check them out before buying another brand.

I think CT products are the best of the breed..

Best Wishes,

Jesse

CT does have a new model coming out that looks promising. I like the touch on/off better than the button on the front strap. The button just looks like it would interfere with the grip.

Been looking for an LCP here for a while and everyone does not have them. I did find one place that had one for $359. When I asked about the $330 MSRP the person told me that didn't matter and he would sell it for what he could get. I then told him I would never purchase from someone like that nor recommend him to anyone else for purchase. I don't mind paying MSRP for something in demand and hard to find. I just hate being ripped off. Guess I will just have to wait till I find one at a reasonable price. There are a few places here that have at least 18 on a waiting list. Hopefully the production will increase soon.

u did IMO the right thing. Most dealers are not even close to selling the lcp for even msrp. greed like that won't make him richer by any means, He won't know of the lost business he lost becuase of a few extra bucks. lot of chrysler dealers did that with the pt cruiser. I quit my dealer over it, we bought cars from them family and all for over 50 years, screw um. there are other cars and people wanting my business. I can get screwed at home, but certainly no car dealer is going to do it, nor gun dealer...:banghead::banghead:

Hoffman's in Newington, CT just had a sales event where they sold 100 LCP's for $289 (not including CT 6% sales tax).

I always like to see what everyone else is paying, because sharing this sort of info helps all of us visit the "right priced" dealers and avoid the scalpers.

Got mine for $295.

What holsters are you guys using? I'm assuming most are carrying with a pocket holster, but I've got this little leather IWB with a metal clip, and it is rather uncomfortable and leaves no area to get your hand on the gun to draw. Any suggestions?
