Hi,

I want to know what your opinion is on the Ruger LCP, the reason I ask is becuause I can get one in stock for $260 right now. I already have a glock, revolvers, and a 1911 however nothing near as small as the LCP. If I get it what is the best way to carry it and what should I know about this gun?

Thanks

Mine's been great after at least 100 rounds now. Not a single malfunction of any kind. It is a very reliable pistol and well worth $300 from my experience so far. For that price, you better grab it quick!

The going rate I've seen in my area has been around $260-270 in the smaller shops that haven't been gouging their customers. My friend's has been flawless. I think the best carry method would be pocket carry. I guess your wardrobe's current pocket selection would determine which pocket to use.

My LCP is for pocket carry only. If I'm going to carry IWB I'm going to use something a bit bigger.

Its a tiny, decent little gun. Does take some getting use to.

I have one and it's a great little gun for those times when you need an easy to conceal piece.

If it's $260.00 it's probably gone by now. Most people are selling them between $350.00 and $425.00 around here. One of the local gun shops had one with a Crimson Trace laser and they wanted $500.00 for it!

I travelled 70 miles and found one for $319.00 and jumped on it because of the madness of the buying public in this area and the fact I wanted a smaller pistol for those times my full size ccw's weren't practical.

I say get it if it's still there but start saving right away for a larger caliber pistol for home defense and ccing when your mode of dress will allow it.

Remember, the LCP is for close up and personal defense. If you are ever in a situation where you need to send bullets down range for more than 15 yards you are going to be hard pressed to hold a good group and the lower power of the .380 puts you at a distinct disadvantage against an assailant who is weilding a larger caliber longer barrelled firearm.

My opinion is that this gun is a wonderful concealed carry piece. The drawback is that it will be expensive to feed and practice with.

If/when Ruger copies the P11, I'm in like Flynn.
Ruger, if you're reading, I urge you to please make a 9mm LCP!!!

I just got it and it was $300 out the door with an extra mag. I am very happy with it! Now what kind of holster does everyone use? This gun will be for deep concealment so what conceals this gun the best? Also once or if .380 ammo appears what would be good for carry? I already have some hornady HP's so I guess those will be good for now.

I like mine a lot, it is my everyday carry. got it for about that price a year ago. I keep hornady critical defense in it.

Yep. A few members here (rcmodel for one) have posted pics of their back-pocket holsters for the LCP/P3AT. Looks like a wallet; same size/shape. I think I'd carry it that way if I had one.

They have 'em at Academy here in stock occasionally. They were $330 a few months ago and they've gone up to $350 and since they're the only ones around that don't have a 6 week minimum waiting list, I guess that's good. One shop I know had a 60+ person waiting list a few months back and was getting 320.

So, don't hesitate. He who hesitates is lost. :D

I have a holster I made like that for my Grendel. It fits in a back pocket well. The gun itself is reliable, but not all that accurate, minute of paper plate at 25 yards. The LCP is a far nicer pistol and more compact, but I've had that Grendel for about 2 decades. Carries 12 rounds, which is kinda neat. I want an LCP, though. Now that I know I can get one, I need to stop spending money on archery equipment and save for one. :banghead:

I also have such a holster I made for a .25 Auto many years ago. The gun is gone, but I bet the LCP would fit it great.

I have and carry LCP every day for last 6 months :)
It's great gun due to it's size and weight.
It's not so great to shoot in my opinion. The frame is way to slick in my opinion, and I feel like the gun wants to slide right out of my hand when shooting. Also, the 2 pins holding the aluminum part inside the frame are coming out slowly when shooting. Have to push them back in after 50-100 rounds or so. My friend SN13 carries Colt in 380 and it's a much nicer gun to shoot, a bit larger and heavier, but not by much.
Take a look at the new Sig in 380, which looks like a replica of Colt 380.

I finally actually held one this weekend, and placed it on layaway. First time i saw one in 6 months. Hey i saw a pocket holster for this gun with an extra mag pouch once, does anyone no the brand or have a link?

I have an LCP and I like it for what it is. I like the mustang even more though. It is slightly heavier and a little larger, but it is much easier to shoot well. The sig is likely a nicer gun than the LCP (I have never handled or shot a P238) but once one gets to that size, weight and price range I have to wonder if a PM9 doesn't make more sense.
