At one of our local ranges an instructor tells of a student who broke two of the small bones in his hand firing S & W Scandium/Titanium .357!

I wonder what's the reason for this?
How light that gun weighed?
Reason being not heavy enough shock gets absorbed into hand.:confused:
Hopefully the LCR is not like this.

I love my lcr, and since I am at work, am carrying it right now... but ill not be shooting any 357 mag from it lol. 357 was doable but a handful when I had the sp101. They would be plain miserable from this little thing IMHO.

So you have a LCR .357? We haven't got them here yet. I would like to get the one with the Crimson Trace Laser Grips.
I find with the SP-101 with .357 loads fine to shoot not painful to shoot except for the 125 grain .357 Buffalo Bore load.

I had my 101 Mag-Na-Ported, which made it far more "reasonable" to shoot with any load. My .38+p LCR is NOT FUN to shoot with heavy (read Buffalo Bore 158gr. SWCHP GC +P) loads. The std. BB 158Gr. SWCHP is about the same vel. as everyone else's +P (FBI) load.

This is very interesting to know. Thanks for the info.
The recoil I find on my standard SP-101 is fine even with the BB 125 grain .357. I expect that recoil especially with Buffalo Bore loads.
The SP-101 is a bit heavier than the LCR .357 or .38.

Interesting that you find it very uncomfortable to shoot the LCR .38 special even when using regular +P loads? The Buffalo Bore load is a hot load so it is to be expected of that recoil it's just that much worse/painful on a light weight gun.
But the big advantage is that since it's lightweight it's much easier carry & conceal and you are more likely to carry it with you vs. leaving it at home.

Well when I compare the LCR .357 and .38 in person (when the LCR .357 becomes available here) I will see and feel the differences between the two guns.

I am opting more toward the LCR .357 over the LCR .38 because you can put those same .38 +P loads in the LCR 357.

Then it will be a showdown between another SP-101 .357 with Crimson Tracer Laser grips vs. the LCR 357 with Crimson Tracer Laser grips.

The 101 is 26oz. empty. Easy to shoot almost anything, especially since porting. The LCR is 13oz. .38's std. vel. are fine. BB +P is not fine. but if we want 1100 FPS. then we pay the price of heavy recoil. The LCR is a pleasure to carry as is the 642. But, with both you would have a problems with 2nd shot using BB +P's trying to pull back down to POA from recoil. I would by the .357 only for resale value. The extra 4 oz. will NOT help you with .357 recoil!

The LCR 38 and .357 guns are alot easier to carry and conceal than the .357 SP-101?
