I'm posting this in response to a member's inquiry in an unrelated thread. A good friend just bought a Ruger LCR 9mm and we took it out to shoot. He wanted better than 38 muzzle energy without 357 recoil. I consider it to have a decent trigger, especially for NIB. It weights 17 oz. It shoots the Underwood 124 +P GDHP round at about 1140 FPS (if you believe the testing-we did not chrono yet). That would be over 350 ft/lb energy but is more comfortable than many 38 +p rounds in my 11 oz 340PD S&W and way more comfortable than Underwood's 125gr 38 +P in my 340 at 1061fps, which I did chrono. (312 ft/lb)
You have to test for bullet (or crimp) jump, as 9mm +p was not made for revolvers and it can be an issue. We could not use high-end Corbon 115gr +P DPX, 4 firings caused the 5th bullet to jump out about 1/4 inch. Just as well, it costs nearly $2/round. (I learned that Corbon glues their 357 Sig bullets, as that is the only round that has this issue in a SA pistol.) As it is, the 5th Underwood round was out of the case about 1/10". I think we need to chrono all and see if velocity decreases significantly from any bullet jump.
He has a laser trainer, which I think is a great device and I just ordered one here on clearance: http://www.laserlyte.com/products/trainer-lt-pro . It is for 2" minimum, but in my Smith, I just let it stick out the front a little bit. YMMV. You can pay over $40 more for the shorter version.
