Picked up a Ruger 22/45 Mark III Target pistol the other day. Never owned a target pistol like this but always wanted one. Took it in the garage just to check it out/familiarize myself with it and noticed that when I would cock it empty with or w/o the mag in it, I could just touch the trigger and get a very quiet/ light click. This was the case with the safety on or off. I took it out in the country to a safe shooting spot and loaded it and went through all the motions and the trigger was satisfactory while actually firing the gun. Everything worked as intended. Is this just the characteristics of this particular gun. Just wondering if that is just the firing pin block doing its job. Just thought I would ask someone that knows.

that pistol has a mag disconnect. You can only fire it with a mag inserted. you are hearing the disconnect intercept the striker.

Thanks for the quick reply. I suspected that was the deal from what I had already read, just wanted some confirmation from someone a little more knowledgeable. Expect children and grandchildren will be going with me to shoot this at some point. Want to make sure I have a thorough understanding of how it operates before I start allowing that. Much appreciated.
