I have an ancient MK II that I dragged out today and put about 100 rounds through. It's been semi-retired for years because of poor extraction. Thinking it might just be pretty dirty inside I soaked it in synthetic ATF overnight and completely dissembled it and cleaned every nook and cranny. I did not dissemble the extractor, however.

After I got it all back together it shot much better than it used to but there was still extraction problems. Frequently it would simply leave the empty shell above the round in the magazine and stop up the works while it tried to return to battery.

Extractor tension maybe? Any ideas?

Thanks-
Shane

Id try polishing the chamber with a brass brush chucked into a powerdrill, and using gunscrubber or carb cleaner under pressure to compleately blow out and clean under and around the extractor and its recess groove.

Yep it looks like it's the magazine. I never would have guessed that, thanks.
