Reading a recent thread about the MK III vs. the MK II, I was struck that it's a simple procedure to remove the magazine safety from the Sauer 38H and the Browning Hi-Power. (yes, I've got a ziplock of magazine safety parts). Anyhow, I thought it must be that simple to do with the Ruger as well. Yep, it is. I don't own one, but a post on another forum explained the simple process. Remove a few parts and install the MK II version of the hammer bushing. You're done.

So, as for the other idiot-magnet parts... you can file down the loaded chamber indicator, but I'd suggest you don't. It was retarted to add this jam-induction device in the first place, but disabling it means that any idiot now or in the future might actually TRUST the device and think it's unloaded because, well, the loaded chamber indicator isn't popped out!

Then there's the internal lock mechanism. Luckilly, it should stay out of the way and you can just pretty much ignore it.

Finally, there's the mag release. Well, as the proud owner of over a dozen heel-release magazines... well it's hardly an improvement for me. Wouldn't mind flooding the market with well-cared-for obsolete mags and changing my manual of arms... bummer. Me, I don't think I'm buying the dumbed-down overcomplicated POS MK III within this lifetime. Can we Sue Ruger?

Ahh, someone who actually likes heel releases. You must not be a 1911 guy.

The mag safety was a mistake, the loaded chamber indicator was another lawyer induced error, but having the mag release where JMB showed us it belongs was a belated improvement. Just my little ol' opinion.
