I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet (unless I just missed it), but if'n I were going to carry a single action revolver in an area where I felt the "threat level" were a little bit more elevated than normal, I'd carry TWO single actions. Or maybe three.
Around here, bad guys come in pairs (and often in threes), usually both are armed (lots of stolen guns on the street, including some of mine...). I would not count on 5 or 6 being enough to end a fight, and I sure as hell would not want to be standing there with an empty gun if it wasn't. I don't care how fast you are, reloading a single action in a gunfight is gonna be bad for you, unless both you and your attacker(s) have run for cover and you have some distance between you (and time). That, to me is the biggest disadvantage of a SA, when faced with the very real possibility that the fight might not be over in 3 to 5 shots (although statistics say they usually are, but statistics also say you shouldn't ever need a gun...)
