Ruger Old Army Load Data...Questions

I have an Old Army en route, and am gathering as much info on it as possible before it arrives... specifically load data. I have all I need to know regarding round balls, but am curious when it comes to bullets. I've heard of guys running up to and including 250 grains in the ROA. Some use conicals, some use .45 ACP/Colt leads, and some use .45 muzzleloader bullets (like the Lee R.E.A.L.). Any ideas?

JJBlanche, if you don't mind me asking, about how much did you pay for your ROA? Just roughly will do. I'm considering helping my nephew get him one. He can't make up his mind yet if that's for sure what he wants. I just know he's trying to add another gun to his small collection and he's been looking at the ROA on a regular basis here lately. (I sneaked around and found out) He's the son of my sister who surprised me with a new Target Model Blued Steel '58 for my Christmas present...Thanks...

I just bought a pair of stainless 71/2" barrel fixed site models, new in case with consecutive serial numbers for $9xx.00. I could give you the info, they have some more and sell individually.

Paid $425 for mine from www.budsgunshop.com, and apparently they have one left. www.gunbroker.com or www.gunsamerica.com are great places to search. If you want or are willing to settle for fixed sights, you can get one of them NIB for around $350.

They are getting scarce, though. I remember this time last year prices on ROAs were less, and all models were available. After searching the internet high and low, I was only able to find 7.5" models for sale, with only one blued 5.5" out there (for $450 no less).

Poke around, do some searches. If you want a NIB Old Army, now is the time to get one. The longer you wait, the scarcer they'll get... and pricier.
