This is the third episode in a six-part series where we test both projectiles and powder in a pair of Ruger Old Army cap and ball revolvers. In the series we'll test three different projectiles, round balls, standard conical bullets and Kaido's heavy hunting conicals using both Goex black powder and Hodgdon's Triple-7 substitute black powder. We'll shoot everything through a pair of Ruger Old Army revolvers, one with a five and a half inch barrel and the other with a seven and a half inch barrel. We'll test each load for accuracy, velocity, energy and penetration. In this episode we'll be testing 225-grain conical bullets and Goex 3Fg black powder.

just a suggestion before they go back

Your testing and videos are great stuff.
When you have finished your current work would you consider doing one mini-test before the ROAs go back home?
Seems to me that a comparison between FF & FFF powder (and maybe substitutes?) would help to clear up the ?? about what does/will/should work the best in the revolver world that many of us prefer.

I also can't remember whether you indicated what nipples (and cap sizes/??) are used on the test guns. It seems as if the more particulars are revealed, the better for the end result.

Michael !!!!
Now that is one seriously cool idea you had there with the .30-.30 (?) case inserted into the cap o' yer powder can fer a pour spout. Did you drill the head out and solder it into the inside o' the cap ?
What do you use to cap the case when yer not at the range ?
