I have read a lot about keeping high pressure 45 colt ammo out of a Taurus judge, but I haven't seen anything about a raging judge magnum. Is that because it can handle the higher pressure of the 454. Casull. My question arises because I would like to start reloading for this particular pistol and I have been unable to find out what safe operating pressures are for it.

"...safe operating pressures..." All firearms sold Stateside are made to use SAAMI spec ammo. Reloading manual reflect that too. So follow your manual religiously and you'll be fine.

The Raging Judge in 454 Casull will pretty much handle anything a Ruger will. I have the Raging Bull in 454 Casull and it can take 60K PSI and often shoot 35K PSI 45 Colt loads from it, the same I shoot from my Rossi 92 rifle which can handle any Ruger 45 load without problem.

Seeing as Hodgdon lists .45LC Ruger only loads at about 30,000-32,000 CUP and .454 Casull loads at up to 53,700 CUP, I would assume you're correct about the Ragin Judge. If it'll handle proper .454 ammo, it'll handle listed Ruger only loads.

Welcome to THR.

Sunrays's post, while technically correct, in no way addresses your question.

As others have said, firearms in .454 Casull can safely shoot any .45 Colt loads, including SAA (SAAMI) strength, Contender strength, and "Ruger only" strength.
