Has anyone experienced the hammer peening the frame on the Ruger
guns? During recoil,the hammer appears to be thrown back by the slide
so vigorously that it's marring the frame.
 
No, I've had a P-95 for 9 years with a couple of thousand rounds through it. It appears to be okay. That's just my gun, though. I'm not sure what may be causing the peening on your frame. Isn't it the slides job to throw "throw" the hammer back?:rolleyes:

Well,yes, that is the slides job. But, I don't think it's the job of the hammer to hammer the frame.
 
My fault with my p89

My kp89 has some marks there but there from me when i pull the hammer
back for single action work the slide does not push the hammer down that
far.
 
Well, the slide does throw the hammer back pretty violently in the slow motion videos I've seen of other autos. However, I have to look VERY closely to see any wear marks at all on that part of my P89 frame. What does this "peening" look like? Any chance of a picture?
 
Suggest a call to Ruger. I've never heard of that before. I have an old P85 with many thousands of rds through it with no problems of any kind and never a failure of any kind. Also have a newer P97 that had a teething problem at first but got that straightened out with a call to Ruger and was sent replacement parts with no charge.
 
Have 2 Ruger 95s and have not seen this problem. Doesn't mean it can't happen. Mine have over 4500 rounds through them and no trouble yet, much less marks being left except for normal wear and tear.
 
I have a P-85 I bought new with my FFL in the first year of production. Have sent several thousand rounds through it, no wear that I can identify. Mys be an individual problem, I go with the others that have said to contact Ruger.
