So, after all these years, with this gun being in production, I finally bought one. It was a mint, unfired one, for $280 OTD. I bought it on a whim.
I have always liked the P90. The frame grip fits my hand nicely. I also think that this is as slim as the Browning Hi Power. The slide is thick and blocky, but no worse than the HK pistols.
Everything I read about the Ruger's being thick and heavy are all lopsided. It is an alloy pistol, and hence, light. The trigger is long, but no worse than a 9VE Sigma or any double action revolver.
I was actually happy to find a 2-3 inch group at 15 yds. Good enough for me. The barrel is incredibly supported. Thick chamber. I really like the way the package works.
The gun fits my hand better than the Beretta/Taurus 92 series. The Glocks, SIGs, Smiths, CZs, and all other big brands really do not have all that much over this P89. I like this P89 and P90 more than I do their cousins, the P97 and P95.
I always wondered how such a big grip for 15 rd mags, was even apporved by the Army trials for the M9. The Smiths and P89 are much slimmer.
Well, this has been a pleasant bargain, in a good package.
