I am looking at the purchase of a Ruger P94 duotone 40 S&W for $300.00. It is almost Brand New Condition and I have been told that there has been very Few rounds fired through it. I am not all to sure what the difference is between this and the Regular P94. Can anybody help me on this with whether or not the price is a fair price and if this paticular Ruger is considered a decent handgun. i own a Ruger 480 and a 44 mag redhawk and have been very happy with them and just need to know a little more about this one from anybody that is knowledgeable with it and the way that it handles and shoots. Also if the price is right. I am new to this site and if you could email me directly It would be greatly appreciated. My email address is [email protected] and my name is Dave. Thanks ao much.

$300's good for a used Ruger auto. How many magazines come with it?

Duotone means, I think in this case, blue slide with grey frame.

Ex, welcome!

I think that the P94 is one of the best pistols Ruger makes. It is great in size and balance, and has the aluminum frame. I used to own a nice P94 9mm, along with a P95, and they are totally reliable and function 100%! I traded them off because my hand is too big for the mag releases. When drawing the weapon from a holster, the web of my middle finger would hit the mag relaese button on the right side and I would end up with the mag on the floor. Happened twice, so I switched to a plastic pistol. The price sounds good too. Enjoy!

Your "duotone" description sounds like it's the Davidson's two-tone special version, the P944TH. The T stands for Two-tone and the H is for Hogue grips. Does the grip have a rubbery feel?? The P944 is made in a manual safety version (P944), a decocker-only (P944DC) and a dual-action-only (P944DAO)' which one are you looking at?? If you get the plastic box, there should be a label on the outside with the model number.

Ruger also made a stainless version of the P944 (the model number is prefixed with a "K") with the slide in a satin finish stainless steel. The slide on the Davidison's edition is sort of a matte medium gray.

This special Davidson's version only came with one magazine but Ruger mags are widely available at reasonable prices. I have owned a P89 for about 4 years now and I really like it. I hav enever had any problems at all with it even after 3000 rounds fired. Ruger pistols are not the prettiest pistols, but they are dependable and very rugged.

The one thing that sold me on Ruger pistols is this statement they put in the owners manual:
The Ruger P-Series pistols are compatible with all factory ammunition loaded to U.S. Industry Standards, including high-velocity and hollow-point loads, loaded in brass, aluminum, or steel cartridge cases. No 9mm x 19, 45 Auto or 40 S&W ammunition manufactured in accordance with NATO, U.S., SAAMI, or CIP standards is known to be beyond the design limits or known not to function in these pistols.

That's a pretty bold statement to make in print.

The price sounds very good especially if it has not been used a lot. Grab it while you can!!

Yeah, need more information by what you mean by duotone. If it's a 40 S&W it's really a P944, even though the slide says P94. The extra 4 means it is a 40 S&W, not a 9mm. If it is a stainless slide, that would make it a KP944. I never heard of this Davidson's special run, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one. Personally, I have the KP944DC. It eats anything I care to feed it, and puts them where I point them. Built like a tank. After two years I don't even see a single scratch in my stainless. Wish I could say the same thing about my stainless SA 1911A1 GI.
