So as I was reassembling my Ruger P95 the slide became stuck back with the barrel and guide rod protruding. I can cock and fire the hammer though the decock doesn't function.

From a little research it seems either the recoil spring assembly was upside down(?)/misaligned or the ejector was left in the "up" position. The solution seems to be to use a coat hanger to pull down on the ejector. However, I'm not terribly familiar with the pistol and don't know what I'm looking for. Anyone have anything more specific as far as fixing the problem? What am I supposed to be looking for?

As an aside, what is Ruger's deal with overly complicated disassemblies/reassemblies?

I heard Ruger hired the creator of Rubiks Cube to head up their design department insofar as assembly/takedown designs.

Your problem with the P95 I can't help you with, sorry.

The ejector looks like a long thin metal "finger" that sticks up at the back of the magwell protruding up into the action. Last time this happened with me I used a metal dental pick and carefully grabbed it and pulled it down.

Good luck!

The ejctor pin assembly must be snapped back fully if not it allows sideto side play. The pin rides in a groove milled in the slide if its to one side it won't line up with the groove. This will prevent the slide from closeing. I always use a small tooth brush and clean behind the pin when its foward in the take down position. When you pop the pin up wiggle it to make sure there is no play. I had my p95 lock up due to this while shooting.

The p95 is kind of a love hate pistol people that haven't owned one love to hate on it. Ive put a few thousand rounds threw mine. It is my carry gun when I'm not carrying my 1911 .

I have had this happen several times to my P95. I used a smallish flat headed screw driver and gently located the base of the ejector in the mag-well, gently got the head of the screwdriver behind it and slowly rotated it...after a few attempts...viola...it popped down and problem solved.
