Hi all!

I have been asked by my brother to do a little research for him, since he can't get internet access at his place. He's got a Ruger P97, and loves it. But he's looking for one or two kinds of accessories for it. I've done some Googling, but haven't found what he's looking for.

First: He wants a "frickin' layy-zer" sight on the grip so's he can get a little red dot with his thumb (we have a cousin with a Sig that has that feature, and my brother thinks very highly of it). I figured Ruger wouldn't be making something like that for the P97, seeing as how changing the grip means completely replacing half the gun. Sure enough, couldn't find anything like it on their site. Does anyone make an aftermarket product that could simulate that sort of thing, like some kind of a sleeve?

Second: He wants glowing night sights. I'm not sure what to tell him there either, because the P97's default sights aren't (at least on his) removeable, so he'd either have to find a very cunning gunsmith, or buy a new slide. But, I'm hardly an expert, so I was hoping maybe one of you could provide a more definitive answer as to whether this is possible or not.

Thanks!

The P97 has two small roll pins securing foresight and.. rear sight is dovetailed. Now whilst I can't suggest a place to go right now ... I'll wager there are other sights out there ... mine seem adequate for me. Someone may well have a good link, hopefully.

As for lasers ... well, I would consider nothing but Crimson Trace .. well, I have two sets but on revo's. They do not I am afraid make anything for polymer grips .. and this is because those grips are integral ...... nothing to unscrew and replace with something else ... and CT grips require, just that.

There are grips for 1911 and other semi's.

One of the other laser people may make something but I am only familiar with CT's ... they are IMO the very best.

If you have to have the laay-zer, what about the type that replaces the recoil spring guide? I'm not sure if they've been made for the Ruger yet though.

Chris

Some good ideas....alas, the laser recoil springs I could find haven't been made for Ruger. I found some night sights he might go for if the sights are more detachable than he claims, and he might go for the Hogue grip even without the layy-zer. Rugerforum had about the same suggestions.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to tell him he should have thought about modification potential when he went for a synthetic.... ;)
