I've been running a Ruger Pistol Caliber (9mm) Carbine and have been experiencing a issue with FTEject. I'm using the Glock Magazine Well assembly, feeding from Glock 33rd magazine

What I'm experiencing is a classic stovepipe with the spent casing being caught between the front of the ejection port and the returning bolt. It isn't every round and it happens with all magazines
1. The empty case is being extracted
2. A fresh cartridge is being stripped from the magazine
3. The fresh cartridge is being chambered
4. The extracted case is being trapped high in the port often in-line with the chambered round.

I've tried loading lighter and heavier without a noticeable difference. I've read about adding a cushion on the rear recoil plate (to slow down the bolt return), changing to a recontoured extractor, and bending the ejector (both up and down)

I was just wondering if others have experienced this issue and what has worked for you to address it

TIA

I second cleaning the gun with a catch. I thought my PC Carbine needed to stay clean to avoid these types of jams. Any more I'm starting to wonder though. Ever since I put a silencer on my carbine I haven't had a jam yet. The only catch is that I only have a few hundred rounds through the gun in this configuration. I would have thought the extra debris blowing into the action would have induced a problem by now.

If that doesn't work for you (or isn't practical to do) the MCARBO extractor is supposed to work very well (although I don't personally have one yet). They also have a different recoil spring assembly. Heck they have buffers and all kinds of things for these guns. The only thing I have sprung for so far is their trigger and if the rest of their products are as good as that part then I would highly recommend them.

Have you run factory ammo though it and did it work? If so I would think its in you loading somewhere. If not I would try that and if you had the issue with factory ammo I would call Ruger and have them take a look at it.

Will it extract a unfired round?

The extractor on my Ruger PCC gave up the ghost.

I replaced it with the M*Carbo part.

Yup, tried multiple factory loads in it with the same result

Will it extract a unfired round?
Yup, seems to. I am considering the upgraded extractor from M*Carbo

That was what I suspected at first, that the extractor didn't have a solid purchase on the rim as it extracted the case from the chamber...I learned that lesson from shooting Glock 9mms

How hot are the loads you’re using? How far do the cases eject?

I’ve had several PPCs in 9mmP that worked much better when using hotter European ammo. I’ve seen fired cases barely dribbling out or short stroke malfunctions as signs of weak ammo.

About 4-6 feet with my current 135gr plated loaded to 1160fps.

I've read that the bolt isn't moving back far enough. But I've also read that the bolt is moving too fast and coming back too fast

That has certainly been true of the Lead-Star and SIG MPX, we're running 135gr close to 1300fps...loading out to 1.130"OAL

Is it possible that it is not making solid contact with the case rim during extraction?
The business end of the part is a shaped little finger that looks like it could bend (if it isn't hardened steel).
This is what I'm leaning toward being the cause. I've read that it can be bent out of shape by forceful magazine insertions

I've heard both to bend it higher (kicks case more outward) and lower (kicks more upward). Was hoping someone had some experience dealing with this

It's the EJECTOR that can be damaged by slamming the magazine home. Not the extractor.

The factory extractor has a very small hook on it. I'm betting that part of your hook is missing. It's easy to pull it to check.

The ammo sounds plenty warm.

Before bending anything talk to Ruger.

If the ejector is bent they’ll likely fix it. If you break it off trying to bend it you’ll have a tougher sell on getting a warranty repair.

If the extractor is bad you might get a free one with a phone call.

I had a few with mine, all with reloads. Never thought much of it, the loads were on the low side, only happened a few times.

I hate to say this, but it's a Ruger. Ruger typically does a great job the second time they get their hands on a rifle. Send it back.

I've had a couple bobbles with 33rd Glock mags and PMC 115gr FMJ but I'm not ready to start replacing parts yet.
Maybe I got a bad batch of PMC as it was also causing me issues with my FN Hi Powers.
