I have a Ruger PC9 that I don't shoot much any more and am thinking about selling it and buying an AR.

I currently have a Stevens 200 in 223 that I like to shoot and have several hundred rounds on hand, so ammo won't be a problem for a while. As age is creeping up on me, the Ruger feels more awkward/heavy than an AR and I like the extended range of the 223/556 over the 9mm.

The Ruger has the factory ghost ring rear sight, so switching to the AR really won't be a problem.

Don't want to get a pistol caliber carbine vs AR argument going, but am just thinking I would shoot the AR more than I have shot the Ruger lately.

Is keeping the PC9 and still buying an AR an option?

If not then I'm afraid I'd sell the PC9 and got with an AR. Just so versatile in comparison.

Keep it

AR's are cheap. The PC9 is a rare one. Keep the PC9. I've always wanted either a PC9 or the PC4.

I'd sell the PC9.

There is someone out there right now wishing they had a cool pistol caliber semi-auto carbine. They're watching the local gun shops on every trip, and they have the word out among them to give a call first if one comes in.

I'd try to sell that person your PC9.

As a previous owner of a PC9, I cannot say that I've regretted selling mine, ever. A 9mm carbine that weighs the same as my AR10 is simply not appealing to me. PC9 accuracy isnt stellar, recoil is surprisingly brisk, trigger was horrid and it just simply couldnt grow on me.

See if you can borrow or rent an AR first.

PC9's are a HOT seller, so it will be easy to sell and you can probably get a good price for it. But they are uncommon, so it will be difficult and likely expensive to replace if you get seller's remorse.

I had a pc 40, sold it to buy another rifle. a few years later I ended up buying a pc9.
Keep the 9! You will likely regret selling it.

I've decided to list it For Sale section later today, if time permits. Going to get some picture taken and try to get them up loaded to photobucket asap.

Thanks for the advise but I think that an AR will better suit my needs.

Take care everyone.

Id keep it and get an ar also. This is only because ive been looking for a PC9 for a long time. I own 2 P95s and a ton of mags for them that also work with the PC9. They are hard to find and therefor worth a decent amount used. Last one I saw at a gun show was 3 years ago for $650. If you trade it in you will get no where near that.
