Was at a LGS on the way home from work tonight. A Ruger
Police Service Six caught my eye. It looked very clean, I didn't
handle it. The price was $349. I thought that sounded good,
what do you all think ?? Thank you for your input.

You don't say if it's blued or stainless and what barrel length.
For a blued its a very good price if clean. For stainless its a steal.

$349 today is less than the $172 I paid in '77. Buy it.

paid $136 for my Stainless Security Six new when I first bought it..........$350 is the going rate these days.......

One with the "made in the 200th year of american liberty" on it was my first centerfire handgun, for a whopping $99.00 used in 1979. Great solid revolver if you can live with fixed sights. I'd buy anotherr without hesitation.

Blued, 4" barrel, original grips, looks very clean. I'm going
back today to handle it. BTW when did Ruger discontinue
that line of revolvers. ??

My first one wouldn't hold groups of reasonable size, perhaps shot out as a rental, and is now at Ruger to be scrapped as an unsupported trade in on a Match Champion w/adj sights. My second one is like new and is staying. Mine are both 38s, and I like them that way.

I "won" one on Gunbroker recently, a blued 4" with rubber grips. It had laid on its side for much too long, with rust and light pitting on 4 places. I knew this already, by the pictures. I'm not as picky about 99% vs. 75% guns, if the mechanisms are excellent, and this one was like brand new except for the rust spots. Got it for $284 + shipping + FFL, which amounted to $334. I considered that to STILL be a decent price for such an otherwise pristine Ruger. I've cleaned up the rust and reblued it, and you can still see the scars, but the rust and white metal are gone. BTW--It shoots great!

Seems good if it's a...

standard, rougher looking but underused Cop gun. Even better if it's of an odd barrel length or stainless.

Todd.

Yet another gun I used to own and wish I'd never sold. Ex-wife bought it for my birthday in 1977.

My dad carried one as a deputy in the 80's, in high-country southwestern Colorado. He died in 2010, and the gun became mine. I carry it now and then.

They're rock-solid and reliable. I expect that would be a fair price in my area.

Just handled it. Rated at 95%, serial # starting with 151-
Was not a duty weapon, no holster wear at all. I think I'll
Jump on it.

Hope it shoots well and you enjoy it. Nice find.

They are awesome, if the timing is good and the bore is clean, buy it.

The Six series is better than the new GP100 series.
