Some of what you may be seeing is the way Ruger produces it revolvers. Companies sometimes make multiple models of guns on the same lines, at different times. They set up to make Model X in .357 until they make XX amount of units, then retool and make Model Z for ZZ amount of units and so on. This works well during a time when sales are stable and predicable. Ruger could have been caught building models or calibers different from what folks the first wave of panic buying swept off the shelves. The time to retool, manufacture and distribute along with the shutdown of some production and distribution due to the pandemic means those model may take time to get back on he shelves. Ruger right before the last panic binge seemed to be putting out and focusing on a lot of newer variations of older models and new models and thus could be why some of their old standbys took a back seat to production. Add to the fact many inexperienced first time buyers consider the selling price the bottom line, Ruger would be a popular choice.
