Hang in there!
Lucky: "Well, nothing wrong with a 5.5" I suppose. If Utah stops dicking around and issues the carry permits I wonder if said Redhawk would be carryable?"
Porter: If you are looking for a Utah permit, be patient. They are swamped with applications since the Trolley Square shooting in Salt Lake City.
I kid you not, the gun stores emptied a ton of stock and the CCW permits went through the roof. It used to take 3-6 weeks to get a permit. Because of the amount of the applications it may take 3-6 months. My cousin is going through the process and has been waiting 3 months this far.
BTW, I own the Ruger 4 inch and yes it would be legal here, but I think you would be nuts to try and carry anything that big and heavy around! (Except in the woods--and you have to have a CCW to do it!) Try the Redhawk Alaskan if you really want a .44 for CCW. It is still big, but not a big as the Redhawk.
JMHP,
God Bless,
