Hey guys,

I have a chance to pick up a Redhawk .44 Stainless with a 7.5" barrel for $400. Guy says it has hardly been shot and is pretty much in new condition. He bought it used for bear protection when elk hunting but wants a .44 snubby instead, says he doesn't like the 7.5" for horseback and such. Is this a good deal??? Anything I need to be aware of???? I currently own a 6" Stainless GP100 wich I LOVE, is the Redhawk as good of gun as a Gp??? My use for it will primarily target and my woods gun for deer hunting. I kinda have the revolver hunting bug after successfully harvesting my first deer with my .357 mag, .44 seems like the logical next step to get a little more serious about it. I have shot a Blackhawk in a .44 with a 6" barrel wich I did NOT like the grip on, didn't seem like I could get my big paw on it with more than 3 fingers, and a S&W .44 with a 6 or 7" barrel wich I really liked. The Smith was much more comfortable then the Blackhawk to me, wish I knew the model number but do not. How does the grip size and shape compare between the Black/Redhawks???? I guess I'm hoping the Redhawk is similar to my gp 100 ergonomically. Thanks in advance

That's a very good price. Here in CA, where everything costs too much, it would sell for $500. Unless you reload .44 magnum can be expensive for target shooting. The 7 1/2" barrel is a dream to shoot. The grips are completely different from the Blackhawk. If you don't like the grips, put Hogues or Pachmayr's on it. It's built like a tank. If you buy it, you'll like it.

I have one with a 6.5 inch barrel and ported. It is a high quality well made gun. It shoots large single holes for me free hand. The particular price you spoke of sounds fantastic. If I wanted one of these, I wouldn't hesitate.

Love my 5.5" Redhawk in .44 Mag.

$400 is no steal, but is a good price for one in like new shape. It will be around as long as your GP-100 will. I have short, wide hands and love the Redhawk grip myself.

That's an excellent price for an excellent gun. The Redhawk is so solidly constructed you can't kill it. It takes the heaviest loads you can find and asks for more.

I've had two and will probably purchase another. This time the RH in the four inch barrel.
