I'm gonna pass on this one.

I have a few .454s. They are all Freedom Arms. Even if I had none and was in the market I would have to pass on the new snub nose Ruger 454. It is just WAY too ugly for my tastes.
I have fired the little Freedom Arms packer with 3" barrel with full house 300 gr. bullet loadings. It is lighter than the new Ruger and the recoil was a bit stiff but tolerable. I bet it wont be too long before you could find good deals on the new Ruger on the used market.

Hmmm,

The pic on the website doesn't look so bad...

They shoulda chambered it for .44 Mag as well as the other calibers. Also, I think it should be a DAO or at least a bobbed hammer model and needs sights that are a bit more snagproof. It's not like it's a target gun.

Gotta say that in the pic I posted the barrel doesn't look like it's 2.5". Looks quite a bit longer somehow...

As I am 6'8," 275# and a recoil lover, Ruger just made the snubbie of my dreams. A trip to Bowen and maybe this thing could be gutter sighted with a Big Dot? It only weighs a little more than a fully loaded 5" 1911A1 and will still likely produce four figure ME figures in Casull while probably being a pussycat with .45 Colt. With .480 Ruger, you probably have something that could be like a .44 Mag with the right handloading while still punching a .475 hole.:what:

Winter CCW flamethrower and backwoods camp gun are the roles I could see this thing filling easily and it has far more utility than those flyweight Smith .44 Mags.
