Re: Single Six, SP101 barrels

Are the barrel threads OD & thread pitch the same between these two? And is the .22 included or different? External difference not withstanding - talking only the barrel threading.

Hey!
I never heard of anyone who wanted to know for any logical reason.

You want me to guess?
O.K., I will.

No, they are not the same.
Even if the thread pitch & dia were the same, the shank length would not be.

But who knows?
Ruger won't sell you a barrel, and you probably couldn't get one off anyway.

Very few gunsmiths have have action wrenches that fit either gun.
And Ruger don't fool around with the torque when they put them on.

Right question... apparently the wrong forum.

It's easy, just numbers is all I seek, NOT a tutorial on the negatives of amateur gun smithing. Either you know, or you don't know. Pretty simple... eh?

Put it this way...

rcmodel in not an amateur, he's a retired professional.

Concerning the Ruger Single Six:

Major Dia. = .560"
Minor Dia. = .485" (approximate)

Thread = 20 T.P.I / V. / R.H.

The only reason I bother to answer is so you'll know that some us do know something. Good luck with your project, what ever it is.

Thank you, Old Fuff

I never implied that rcmodel was anything other than experienced 'smith. But in alignment with mutual respect, it also goes both ways.

Again, thank you

No disrespect intended.
But you set the tone in your second post yourself.
Hummm?.... stumped the Stars... eh?

I was only trying to make the point that very few people have the measurements you ask for.
Because very few people have action wrenches for Ruger SP-101's, and have never tried to get a barrel off one because Ruger won't sell us a barrel anyway.

Then, I finally figured out today you were the guy wanting to build a FN 5.7 revolver.
Now I see why you ask.

You might look here.
If anyone can or will do it?
This guy will know how and do it right.
