I'm pretty sure (having verified part numbers on the Numrich web site) that the grip frame on the New Model Blackhawks is the same as the New Model Single Six. They only seem to show one size for the grip frame.

Looking at Ruger grips in the new catalog I received from CDNN, they are offering some nice Rosewood grips and also some nice faux Ivory grips for the Single Six, which to my thinking should also fit the New Model Blackhawks. Except ... they are noted "Only fits 32 H&R."

So ... what's different about the .32 H&R Single Sixes that they take unique grips? I'd like to grab some of these to replace the black plastic/rubber things that came on the Blackhawk, but I don't want to buy them if they won't fit.

TIA

The 32 H&R single sixes have a different grip frame - it's slightly shorter. I looked at one at a gun show recently and it's definitely different than a Blackhawk.

I believe the 22 SS does have the same grip frame as a blackhawk, but the only SS I have is from 1958, so it has the old, old style frame.

The best resource on that is here: http://www.gunblast.com/Hamm_Ruger-SA-GripFrames.htm

It's the fixed sighted (Vaquero style) .32's that have these short grip frames. the earlier ones had the standard ones.

I suggest you take a look at the offerings from Ajax Grips. They have both old style and new style Blackhawk grips. Remove the existing grips and look to see if the grip frame is marked "RED" or "XR3" and order accordingly.

I don't know if this will help or confuse the issue, but these grips are available on the Ruger website and are shown on these NM Blackhawk 50th Anniversary 44 Magnums.

The 50th Anniversary 44 Magnum is a small grip frame and the grip panel has a notch for the lock. With a bit of hand work you can fit a NMBH grip panel to the 50th frame.

What grips does the Ruger Old Army use? Many sights don't list the ROA, but I assume it probably used the same frame as something else??
