Took my new Ruger Service-9 to the range yesterday. Shooting Speer Lawman 124 gr.@ 9 yard targets. There were three FTF's in the very first clip (out of the box), but a little tap solved that problem. No further problems as I ran through 100 rounds. It was pretty darn accurate once I got the feel of it. Maybe different rounds will produce different results. My only complaint is the size of the trigger guard. I don't think my hands are particularly large, but there was some rubbing with some holds. I think this pistol is an excellent value and the 15-round capacity doesn't hurt either.

A friend of mine has a step son who recently bought a Security 9 after looking at a lot of other compact 9mm.s. He liked the ergonomics and the overall size and feel of the gun; he also liked it's great price!

You can cure that with some silicon carbide sand paper. My LCP had some sharp edges on the trigger and guard, some 400 grit wetted with wd40 polished those spots nice and smooth. BTW I held a Security 9 at the LGS the other day, It did feel nice in the hand.

I was looking at that - internal hammer? Was it comparable to a striker fired pistol? Does the hammer oly come to a half cock state, can't be manipulated from the outside? Just curious. Buds has them listed for just under $300.

It's like a larger lcp ii, from what I understand. Though hammer fired, it feels very striker-ish as far as the trigger goes. The hammer is flush and cannot be actuated from the outside.
Like a striker fired gun, there is no double strike. You'd have to re-rack to cock the gun if you had a misfire.

Love the look and feel of the gun. If I needed another mid size 9, it would be on my short list.

I really couldn't tell the difference from striker. It is a good trigger. I didn't try staging it. All in all, I think it is a very good deal at a good price. It compares favorably to my Ruger American.
