Has anyone here ever sent a Ruger (stainless Security Six, in this case) back to the factory for refinishing? If so, how did they treat you? Decent refinish? Reasonable turn around? Cost? I am thinking about sending mine in to have some scratches (mild to deep) polished out and the gun inspected for timing, condition, etc...
Thanks,
Chris

I sent my S.S GP-100 back to ruger for a refinish. I belive it was $60.00 + Shipping, but not sure. They did a great job in a decent time frame, about 3 weeks.

Tony Z,

Please forgive lack of S.S. smarts. When you had your stainless revolver "refinished", was it just a repolish type job, or did they do something else? I'm not sure how to put my question into words exactly.
OK, is there more done, than polishing? If so what? I guess that covers it.

I sent my sp101 back two days ago. The front sight is off to the left. Barrel has been turned too far into the frame. The hammer is bearing against the frame on the right side. The trigger is bearing against the frame on the left side. Trigger pull is a touch heavy! I am actually grinding steel with each trigger pull.
I would like to see it fixed in three weeks but i don't know about the schedule.

Tony Z,
At least in MY case, I am expecting them to re-polish the stainless (SS) finish so as to remove any scratches, dings, etc. I would figure in most cases, they could make the gun look darn near new, except for deep gouges and such (which my gun has none). I am also going to ask that they reblue the front sight and maybe replace the rear sight, check internal parts, springs and replace as necessary. I have heard they do that as a matter of course any time they get a gun in for service. Down side: If you have custom parts, remove them and replace with original before sending, or lose them, or so I'm told. I will let you know first hand how they treated me when I get mine back.
