Anyone looking to mate a single action with carrying concealed might want to check out Ruger's Sheriff Model (this one a .44 Special), to be carried in a Milt Sparks HSR (FBI cant). The revolver has a 3 3/4" barrel. Shown next to a Colt Government in a Sparks 55BN holster for size comparison.

The birds-head version is more easily concealed. I occasionally carry one of them.

Now that appeals to me more than anything I've seen in a long time. How about a pic with the gun out of the holster? Why am I not finding it on Gun Genie? Is it a distributor special?

Thanks Hondo...I didn't mean to hi-jack the tread. This is really a nice gun and a great idea. The 44 Spl being one of my favorite calibers.

I think there is about 1/2" to 5/8" difference in the shape of the birdshead grip and the standard, and it is in the vertical plane. I'm not sure it matters that much, but some guys FEEL their gun is better hidden. For me, the regular SA grip is more aesthetic, and feels more natural. If someone is spotting my gun from that little section of grip, I'm not doing something right..................

I love the 44 Special version that is a distributor special.

I'll take mine in blued variety, change the hammer to a lower profile (Blackhawk hammers work in this frame), and wear it in a Mernickle High ride!

Of course, I probably wouldn't carry it for self-defense purposes (got the j-frame or Glock 26 for that)....but would love it for an all-around fun gun!
