Ruger Shortage ???

are they trying to create an artificial demand?
Wouldn't surprise me in the least. There is no reason what so ever, even with a "lean production model" that they can't pump them out on a continuous basis. No reason at all. Ruger has tons of money to throw around, they can sit on inventory without an issue.

If they designed their "lean production model" purposely to leave giant holes in availability, firstly they're idiots, and secondly, I won't be buying anymore Rugers.

How long does it take them to make a run of 1,000 SP101s? A week? It shouldn't take any longer than that...

I tried going through my local shop for a GP100 in 6" stainless, the dealer also wanted one for the store. However they couldn't find any distributer that were carrying them. When I went to Bass Pro shop I found it, but they had sold their last one the night before i went to pick it up. Gander Mountain finally had two in stock and they price matched me for 529.00. It made me wonder at the time why they were such a pain to find.

I inquired about a GP-100 at my local shop and he said he could get one but I would have to wait. Normally you have to wait a week at most for his weekly deliveries from his distributor.

Still waiting on something in .327 Magnum from Ruger. I know a few area dealers who carry Ruger, and they say everything is on back order. At least finally at the last gunshow, I found the ammunition. Now all need is the handgun to put them in.

My SP101 has been at the factory for repairs for two months now. But, to be fair my gunshop had it for almost a month before they sent it.

Ruger said that it's shipping back today. So, I'm excited. I'm going to fit it with a Houge monogrip as soon as I get it back. It was my son'd gun, but he got in trouble so I inherited it.
