Hi all I have a ruger New model single six with the 22lr cylinder.
The cylinder says Bisley on it.
My question is can I put a 22 mag cylinder in it ?
If so does it have to say Bisley on the cylinder ?
I emailed Ruger and the responce was they no longer have a cylinder for it.
Appreciate any comments
Thanks

Do not try a cylinder unless the factory or qualified gunsmith assures you that it is in time and has a the correct cylinder-to-barrel gap.

Bisley is a grip style, not a frame or cylinder (technically). I am surprised Ruger couldn't accomodate you.

If the gun was not originally produced as a convertible, Ruger will not make or supply a magnum cylinder for it. They're funny that way. ;)

You can try to find a used magnum cylinder, or a donor gun, and have the cylinder fitted and timed to your revolver. There may or may not be accuracy problems, since the Magnum bullet is a thousandth larger in diameter. Were this my gun, I would leave it alone.

Ruger won't do anything to alter the original configuration. That said, one can usually pretty easily procure a .22Mag cylinder. It is also easy enough to see if it functions properly. There is no issue with the bore size because Ruger built every .22 Single Six after 1968 with the same barrel blanks.
