Ruger Single Six......Had to do it !

I was looking in the handgun display cases today killing time when the owner gingerly placed a Ruger Single Six in the case. I immediately asked to see it. It was a 6.5 inch stainless steel model. The price tag was marked $249.99. I asked if it had a .22 WMR cylinder and he said no. The darn thing looked brand new. The owner of the shop said he just got it in. I very quickly said "I WILL TAKE IT". .................... I couldn't find my serial number at Rugers web site. Serial number is 62-71744 for you experts. When I got it home I noticed the adjustable sights had never been adjusted. It shoots pretty good.............I am wondering if this gun only came with the .22 lr cylinder.

Looks like 1974 vintage. I doubt that it was a single cylinder model. The magnum cylinders frequently get lost. Does it have a star on the bottom of the cylinder frame in front of the trigger guard? That would signify a single cylinder model.

I bought my Ruger Single Six back in 72, or so, and mine has 3 screws in stead of 2

Who cares? You got a great deal and Ruger will make you a mag cylinder for not a whole lot.

This gun is one of the most underrated guns on the market. People would kick themselves if they knew what they're missing by not having one.

Interesting. In my area they don't seem to be underrated at all. Reason being, used Single Sixes nearly always sell for as much as NIB example, and frequently more.
