Ruger SP 101 question

Is it normal for cylinder on the SP101 to take a bit of force to open, and a bit of force to snap back into place? It's a new gun, shoots and functions well, but definitely takes more pressure to open and close the cylinder than any of my S&W revolvers.

Does the cylinder release pin come flush with the breach face? Does the front latch on the top of the yoke drop flush with the top of the yoke?

The cylinder release pin is recessed a fraction of a mm into the breach face. The front latch on top of the yoke pushes flush.

The pin on the end of the ejector rod seems to be scraping more of a groove than usual on the breach face on it's travel to the release pin, but it is moving on it's spring; it seems as though its a little too long, or not adequately beveled...but I'm no gunsmith...

Back to Ruger? Let it wear in?

Tryed putting some grease or oil on it?

Sounds like it's got no lube atall.

No, that is not normal. Fit and funciton should be excellent.

If it's digging a grove in breach face it's too long, poorly fitted, return to Ruger after calling. Their gunsmiths are much better than their assembly line people.
This a safety issue on a primarly designed as a self defence gun. Return It
