I've been eying these for a long time and finally came across one at the LGS. Something about the 3" that I like, I can conceal it just fine, shoot it well, and it's neither too big nor too small. Grips are hardwood Goncalo Alves and feel great in the hand, I feel like I'm in complete control over the firearm. I haven't shot it enough to give a full range report but so far I like it :)

I'll leave you with some pics:

Very nice, I almost bought one yesterday but decided on a S&W M69. I am sure I will own a SP101 or GP100 at some point in my life.

Great gun - I like mine very much. Congratulations, and welcome to the club!

Your wood grips look awesome. Mine wears a much more pedestrian Hogue Monogrip.

I picked up a used 3" SP101 a few weeks ago. Ran about 75 rounds (a real mix of .38 spl and some .357) and I'm pretty happy with it. I found a holster at Winthrop Holsters (yep they make a 3"). It carries pretty well OWB. I have a couple of grips from Badger Custom for my S&W's and thinking one will improve my grasp of this revolver. Enjoy!

Wow, that is sharp. Beautiful gun, beautiful stocks. Those are Hogue, correct?

I've been a bit conflicted about picking a 3" up myself. I want one badly for the aesthetics, ballistics, and shoot-ability, but already own a SP101 snub. I fear I may soon fall into the ol' THR mantra, "Buy Both!"

Let us know how it shoots, and please post pictures.

I liked the 3" SP101 I had a lot...but it did not shoot to point of aim. I had to aim at the top right corner of the target to hit the bullseye. It shot tight groups, but I didn't like having to hold off.
Now I have a 3" GP100. Completely different story. With this revolver, I hit what I aim at, even out to 80yds.

I also just traded for one . I really like those grips on yours , very nice .

Another 3" SP101 owner here. Although mine isn't nearly as new as yours though.

If you want a quick way to get some loud fireballs pick up a box or ten of magtech's 158gr soft points. Bigger bang and much more flash than my near max h110 loads. Its like those magtechs were built for fun in this gun!

Did you get one with a stainless pushlock or a blued one? If it's the latter, is the pushlock actually a blackened stainless or is it blued carbon steel? Also, what pushed you towards the 69 over the SP-101? What was the difference in price?

I am sure I will own a SP101 or GP100 at some point in my life.
If you had a choice between the 3-inch Ruger SP-101 or a 4-inch GP-100, which would be your choice? Just from a preference standpoint?

I had a 3" SP101 once upon a time not too long ago and it was a really nice little gun. Small enough to be, well small but not so small that the recoil was an issue, it shot very nicely. The only thing I didn't care for was the sights, that was my only complant.

I have the same grips on my SP101 snub. The angle and fit to my hand is amazing ; really transformed the gun compared to the factory grips - from knuckle slammer to total control. You are going to love shooting that Ruger.

Is that one a special version?
The barrel is missing the hideous warning info and the top rear of the frame looks different from the SP101s I've seen.
I like it.
It looks like my 4" GP-100's little brother.

That's how the new ones look. They did away with that stuff.
