Spike - Yes you did pick a fine first revolver.

You did not mention how experienced you are. You may want to take a training course.

I also always recommend getting involved in some sort of shooting competition. Even if it's just a "postal" match with online friends ( I used to run one here on THR).

Enjoy! BA/UU/R!

"Ready:"

The ladies always prefer the "warm and friendly" brand grips.

James -- Good one! But I am actually serious. I have Houge monogrips on mine - which I like. I want my wife to choose a gun she likes and I always thought the SP101 would be it. She still has not shot it, so if the ladies somehow seem to like the original grips, maybe I'll switch it back for her to try it out.

Thanks!

"..You did not mention how experienced you are....."

I am an experienced shotgun shooter, many thousands of rounds in NSSA competition. Am also a fairly competent rifle shot. Pistol shooting, alas, is not my expertise. But, I plan to shoot enough to become fairly competent--although I do not aspire to be competitive. Too old--67.

I have a 3 inch SP101 and its probably my favorite handgun. The thing is way more accurate than it should be and is very soft recoiling with standard .38s. Because it stays at home most of the time with the wife, Im thinking about putting the Hogue grip on it. Not tat it needs it with .38s or normal .357s, but I find them more comfortable.

A serviceable gun. If you are ever in the mood, send it to Gemini Custom. You won't believe the results.
