That is an accurate statement on the subject.Lets say it is a "Preference" issue.
I just found an Ruger SR-556 E-Model for $1050 local. HmmmmmmAs to the OP, mine has seen couple thousand rounds down the tube. No problems so far. I will clean it one day.
What the SR556 sales for is in the $1500 range.

***** UPDATE ***** I purchased my 1st AR platform rifle. Rock River Arms LAR-15 Tactical Operator 2. Comes with (2) 30 round mags and is well dressed from the factory. Jumped on a case of ammo (on sale) and Vortex Strike Fire red/green dot 2x doubler and night vision compatible switch. Out the door for just over $1400 including tax. Warning! this was an unauthorized male purchase so I will have to hide it and put it under the tree in 29 days.
Many people say this, but honestly it is quite debatable. Whatever advantages it does offer may be considered off-set by the greater weight and complexity of the piston system. IMO, its a wash with neither system being definitively better. The two-stage piston driven operating system is a plus over the gas driven.
Any gun properly chambered for 5.56mm will shoot .223 safely (which most AR's are). Its the other way around you need to worry about. Also they declare it to be both 5.56mm NATO/.223 Rem compatible. <--- any thoughts on that?
The name-brand extras on the Standard model add a lot to the cost, and many of them appear to be missing or replaced with cheaper components on the E-Model. The sights alone would set you back around $200 if you bought them separately. Its quite possible there are other, internal, changes which are not called out in the very limited spec listing on the website (ex. the bolt looks different between the two guns in the photos). Why is the Standard Model $1995 and the E-Model only $1375? I don't see the $600 dollar difference.
They appear to be based on the Standard model upper, so in effect they should be looked at as $500 cheaper than that rifle, rather than $100 more expensive than the E-Model.Why are the 3 stand alone uppers more expensive than the complete E-Model rifle?
This is a case of them saying this as if it was their idea and they have the exclusive on it, which is not at all true.
What the SR556 sales for is in the $1500 range.
it's obvious you don't know much about AR15's if you don't know about 5.56 and 223 differences in rifles...
