Every day for the last 7, my morning elliptical workout machine told me I'd burned 308 calories, if that's not a sign I should buy an AR10 I don't know what is :)

I'm considering the Ruger SR-762 rifle, other than the cheap-looking buttstock, and maybe the pistol grip, doesn't look like I'd have to change anything. I want to enroll it in the suppressor host fleet as well.

Anyone own one care to share a few thoughts as to accuracy, recoil, adjustable gas system effectiveness, ergonomics and anything else that comes to mind?

I love mine. It's been 100% reliable with everything I've put in it. I've only had to change the gas setting once, and that was to get some steel cased to cycle properly. After I changed the setting it ran the ammo perfectly. Ammo with quality ammo for 3 shot groups have proven to be sub-Moa. I have a handload that will stack 5 in a sub-Moa group. Handguard is great, fits in my hand perfectly. Some knock it for having proprietory parts. This would worry me as well if it was any other company but Ruger. For the most part it would be a safe bet if you ever needed a spare part or replacement Ruger will have you covered. The grip is a hogue grip, which I like. So no worries there from me.

My biggest gripe with the rifle is the trigger. It's standard milspec so it's not good. I'm planning on getting an aftermarket trigger as any milspec ar-15 will drop right in.

Also the stock is a standard m4, which with the extra recoil from the .308 makes it unpleasant to shoot. So I swapped that out with an ar-15 milspec magpul CTR with the enhanced buttpad, which fixed that problem.

And lastly, I changed out the standard charging handle for a BCM gunfighter with the large latch. It takes a lot more effort to charge a .308 AR over the standard ar-15. So the large latch BCM remedies that issue. Also comes in handy when scoping it as well.

Overall I'd give it a 4/5. It a great rifle and given the chance I'd buy it again. However it isn't cheap and at the price point they generally sell (got mine for $1450 OTD) I feel like some of the upgrades Ive had to make should have came standard.

After my changes to the rifle I'd give it 5/5. It's exactly what I want out of a .308 AR. And at $1800 including my $230 trigger I have on order I feel it's an overall good value.

Btw, the BUIS sights it ships with are Samson sights, which are superb sights.

I killed a buck with mine in November. Mine is basically stock and I have no plans to change anything. It is very soft shooting and I like it a lot.

Last month I sold a Weatherby Vanguard and the money that "I" got for it is burning a hole in my son's pocket. He thinks "WE" need one of these in 308 as well. It would make one heck of a "pig" gun. So far the only pigs I see are on TV or the web. This is the only post that I have seen on these rifles and nothing seems wrong with them, so far. Can you tell me more ? Thanks, Jerry

Here's mine in my deer blind. Opening day of the season about 9 am. Had been sitting for just over 2 hours by then and was getting bored. About 20 minutes after that photo was taken, a 4 point buck walked into that gap at bottom of that point (look just over the rear edge of the red dot sight on the rifle). He went left and I nailed him before he went over the ridge. About 75 yards. The red dot is a Vortex Sparc and I used the sights to co-witness it. The mag is a Magpul I cut down myself to hold 5 rounds which is the limit in semi auto rifles in my state. I could have simply blocked it but I hate mags that stick out when I am hunting.
