I bought a SR40 a week ago at the RKShow in KCMO. It jams every round it feeds. It extracts perfectly, but when feeding a new round (I've tried several brands) it locks up. The cartridge gets stuck between the slide and the top of the chamber. I've ran 200 rounds through it and it does this on almost every round, the only way to chamber one is to keep pulling and releasing the slide until it chambers a round.

How can I get this back to Ruger to fix it? Do I have to send it through a dealer? Since it's new, will Ruger charge me for the repairs (I expect to pay shipping)?

I keep reading from Ruger customers that Ruger doesn't charge (despite no warranty) when the gun just does not function correctly. But on Ruger's website it looks like a whole different story.

if you got it new, there should be an owner's manual in the box. It will have a customer service number to call. Ruger is usually pretty good to deal with. Explain the problem, I'm sure they will take care of you.

When you call ask for a shipping label. If it is a new gun they should take care of it.
