Hello all,

Went to the range today for the first time with the wife and her new SR-9.

After popping a few 17rd mags off, I decided to try the 17+1 the way I've always done it with the shotguns...

I had the magazine out, inserted a round in the chamber by hand, closed the slide, safety on, then inserted the magazine, safety off... Pulled the trigger, CLICK, no fire.

Tried it a second and third time, both times checking the primers to see if it misfired.

So, I then inserted the mag, racked the slide to chamber a round, removed the mag, inserted the 17th round, reinserted the magazine, disengaged safety, and it fired all 18 shots.

Tried method #1 again, no dice...

I'm no expert on this gun, is this normal? What causes this? Is there some kind of safety mechanism I'm missing?

Thanks,

Adam

that's pretty brutal on the extractor...semi-auto pistols are designed for the the cartridge to slide up under the extractor as it feeds from the magazine. not snap the extractor over the rim..over time..this will snap it.

other than that..I would suspect it is not cocking the striker doing it your way.

I would imagine that is why it didn't fire, and now, looking at the teardown manual, I'm glad it didn't :)

Never had a problem doing it this way with the M9, but those were pretty "broken in" heh.

Thanks for the reply!
