Ruger Survey

I'd love them to start making the following again:

  • Model 99/44 Deerfield carbine
  • Mark II pistol (either instead of or in addition to the Mark III)

I would bet that Ruger will come out with a western lever action rifle/carbine

Ruger used to make a lever action rifle. It functioned quite well and had a great short, smooth stroke. The main problem is that it was really, really ugly.

Half-lug barrel on GP-100. (Bring it back!)
Slightly larger front sight on the LCP. (Maybe 1/2 the size of a j-frame style.)
A coach gun for cowboy style shooting.
Increase 1911 production.
Make a better version of the KSG just to annoy the Keltec fans.

Good point. I should be more specific in saying that I would bet that Ruger is going to build semi-clone of a Henry/Winchester lever action rifle or carbine.

Ruger has been very successful when semi-cloning Colt, Browning, Garand, etc.

What I want from Ruger!

First, I would a #3 carbine in stainless for the 454 Casull/45 Colt cartridges.
Bring back the Ruger Speed Six and SP101 in 9mm.
The 9mm and 40 carbines would be good along with an interchangable magazine arrangement to take popular mags from other companies like HK, Glock, S&W etc.
That's all for now.

I asked for a pcc based on a 10/22 platform and specifically asked for a takedown model.

This survey is available on Ruger's Facebook page if you didn't get the email. IIRC, I wrote:

1) Tactical Version Mini in Stainless
2) .22 GP100
3) Pump Shotgun
4) M 14/M1A clone
5)PC Carbine that takes Glock mags

What do I want from Ruger?

A reliably accurate No. 1 rifle out of the box.

I really like the Ruger No. 1 rifle and would like to buy a No. 1 Varmint in .223. However, I am hesitant to make the purchase because of the hit or miss accuracy of Ruger No. 1s. I know that many people buy No. 1s and have good accuracy, but there are also many people that get rifles that just don’t group. They end up having to get specialized gunsmithing to make them shoot. The idea of buying a rifle and crossing you fingers that it will shoot well just turns me off. The option seems to be that you will likely need to double your investment to make the rifle shoot and waste months of time getting it fixed.

The No. 1 has always been a great disappointment to me. It just seems to fall short of it's potential as sold by Ruger.

Not to high-jack this thread but if I were to guess what Ruger will be adding to their line-up I would guess:

Winchester lever action-type carbine in 44 mag, 357/38 and .22 rimfire. Marlin is struggling and Henry is showing there is money to be made in this market.

Home defense/combat-type shotgun. Perhaps something like the MKA-1919.

Possibly a SxS coach gun.

An M1A clone. Like the M1911 this is would be a big winner for Ruger although it would entail come cannibalism.

- SR308 etc - AR platform in short action calibers

- No.1 in .22LR

- .22LR conversion kits for all SR pistols

- Long Slide SR pistols with target sights

- Titanium SP101, especially the 4" .22LR

  • Carbines in 9/.40/.45 that take SR pistol mags AND 30 round versions thereof.
  • Pump shotguns
  • SR308 tacticool rifles
  • SR pistol in 7.62x25
See, you have to make one crazy demand, that way, if you get caught, you can plead insane. Ha! Shotguns...

they didn't ask me either but I'll say -A pump action 22 built around the 1022s rotary mag (using the same barrel ,trigger, and other readily available components ) .
A magazine fed ,short barreled home defense, pump shotgun . Affordable pistol caliber carbines of any type action. A compact ,,true DA only(as in second strike) 9mil .And a compact over/under tactikool shotgun .

Pistol caliber carbines - preferably pump action.
Rerun of the Security Six/Speed Six revolvers.
Adjustable sights on SP101 pistols.
Semi-auto in .308/similar calilbers.
Last Wish - really out there - semi-auto in 6.5 x 55 mm

a "budget" 1911, a 40cal version of the LC9, an LCR chambered in 327 federal, a "budget" bolt-gun (think savage axis), a blued version of the sp101.

Blah, I got the survey and deleted it. This thread made me go back and check for it and its gone. I originally thought it was spam. :banghead:

I have been wanting a Redhawk in 10mm/40SW with moonclips for years and I really wish I could recommend it.

Also, want a Mini style rifle in 10mm.

They had the #3 chambered for the 454 Casull right after the Casull went into production. Blued, though. $300. They also had a 22/454 that topped 4,000 fps with a 65 grain bullet (don't quote me on that, it might have been 3,000 fps and my memory is only a little less hazy on the bullet weight). I will try to find the article (I still have the magazine I read about these guns in).
